Current Conditions

This is taken from the clayslide looking up river. Note where the river is still and then turns and gets rough. Looking at our work -well done. J Look at it while you can, it could all be different come spring... We also found more cracks on this other side of the clayslide. This view is toward twin bridges. Note the crack Doug is filling in. if you follow the crack in this last picture to where it crosses the trail you will see the earth is offset probably more than the offset section where Doug made the ramp on the road.

The path across the clayslide has been widened to improve access. There is still no safe crossing at the river.

Access to Monte Cristo is a rugged hike at best. The bypass trail has been improved from the Weden Creek/Gothic Basin Trailhead to the log crossing the river. Foot traffic is probably passable. Limited trail work has been completed to date along with some improvements to the clay slide access.


The MCPA website now hosts the waiver needed to obtain a key to the gate at Barlow Pass. The waiver can be downloaded here.
